God calls us to ministry in action, so I decided to ask my friend how he has applied this in his own life.

An interview with Ethan and Preston.

ETHAN: So Preston, how old are you?

PRESTON: I am 9 years old.

ETHAN: What things have you done with KOAM?

PRESTON: I have done public speaking and fundraisers.  I spoke at summer extreme day to raise money for wells, I gave a presentation at Fresno Plumbing and helped with the Water team Video. I helped with a yard sale and Eat Well 4 A Well fundraiser to raise money for the water team.

ETHAN: Was speaking in front of a lot of people easy for you at first?

PRESTON: No, not really.

ETHAN: Why were you afraid to speak in front of people.

PRESTON: I was afraid I was going to mess up.

ETHAN: What made you want to step out of your comfort zone?

PRESTON: Knowing that the audience doesn’t care that I mess up and just practicing. Other leaders with KOAM encouraged me and I prayed to God with my mom and it really helped me to step out of my comfort zone.

ETHAN: How has God used you to bless others?

PRESTON: I now feel confident enough to talk to others about my faith. I have been able to be a part of providing clean water to hundreds of people across the world just because I decided to speak up.

ETHAN: How has serving others shaped you?

PRESTON: I feel blessed for the things like clean water that I used to take for granted.

ETHAN: How will this affect your future?

PRESTON: I have the confidence to speak in front of big crowds! I want to encourage people to serve others or be a part of something where you can change lives. For example, you can join an organization like Kids On A Mission!

When interviewing him, a verse came to mind:

Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

Preston has been able to empower hundreds of peers and adults. Despite our age difference, Preston continues to inspire me to trust God and remember where true strength comes from.
