We live in a society where lying, gossiping, and not going to Church is acceptable. It can be SO hard to live as a light for Jesus because our human nature wants us to fit in with the crowd. We don’t want to be looked down upon or stand out too much because others might judge us. But…we’re not called to fit in. So how can we be a positive influence on those around us even when it’s difficult?

We are going to be surrounded by people in this world who live differently than us, but God has given us the opportunity and responsibility to love them no matter what. As hard as it can be to positively influence those around us, it’s helpful to remember:

Our main purpose in life should be to spread the name of Jesus and make Him famous.

As Christians, we are called to make His name KNOWN. And even though this is not the most popular thing to do, that is what God has called us to do.

In Matthew 28:19-20 it says, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

He doesn’t just tell us to go and make disciples of OUR nation, or the nation of our large family, or the nations that we like, but He calls us to go and make disciples wherever we are.

So I challenge YOU! Go out and be a friend to the person that is sitting alone at lunch, stand up for what you believe in, and love people fiercely. God is going to use you right where you are to make a difference, but don’t be afraid to let Him. YOU can do amazing things for the Kingdom of God!
