Día Tres
In today’s devotion we talked about “Gratefulness”. We learned that gratefulness is not only being thankful, but acknowledging and understanding why we are grateful. By immersing ourselves into a society that is less fortunate than us, we have come to the realization that we are selfish people. We are constantly stressing over when we can upgrade to the newest phone or when we will get our “dream” promotion! Over the past few days however, we’ve experienced such selflessness from the Costa Rican’s we’ve met. This contrast had been eye opening.
Later today, we drove to the second church and handed out invitations to the kids inviting them to join us for the VBS on Thursday,Friday, and Saturday. Soon after we finished running around in the rain for two hours we had the most EPIC scavenger hunter in the history of all scavenger hunts!!! We took group pictures of our teams (teams of five) next to over twenty different objects. A few of those objects were iguanas, coffee plants, and… a VOLCANO!!!
If this day doesn’t seem crazy enough, we had a New Year’s Eve/ Day, Costa Rican fiesta! Banging fireworks, blowing party whistles, and horrific Karaoke were only a few of the highlights during this fiesta!
Overall, we are all SO excited to host the VBS at the two churches for the next six days!
