It was raining when we woke up, and the light on and off pitter patter of rain has been the soundtrack to our day. It was there when our day started, and barely when we started our devotion, on the individual and their importance to the team. Powerfully presented by Braelyn Riffel, Joe Portale, and a Kaitlyn Ackley, they went into the details on the importance of our individual gifts and how important they are to the team.
Right after breakfast we jumped headfirst into our day, eager to get to the church to start the second day of VBS. It has only been two short days but the experiences have been amazing and powerful. Watching the kids get into the worship and intently watch the lessons hasn’t only been life changing for them, but for the team as well. With so many new friends and memories, it will be hard to say goodbye to this church.
We’d originally planned to leave for zip-lining right after we’d finished with the VBS, but due to the rain, we rescheduled and changed our destination to a water fall. After a long drive and the minor setback of one of the vans getting stuck in the mud, we arrived. There was a short hike down, and then we were able to see one of the most beautiful sights I’ve had the privilege to lay eyes on. We were even able to swim in the river, though it was icy cold.
On our way to dinner, we stopped in La Fortuna for some gelato and a second round of souvenir shopping. And now, we are sitting down preparing to eat after a long and exciting day filled with wonders and God’s blessings.
