I would like to say that bravery was a trait that came to me easily, but in reality, it was something I had to learn, and it was Kids On A Mission that helped me do so. Kids on a Mission was the platform I needed and gave me the tools to stretch and grow as a person and spiritually. Before, my comfort zone was pretty small. Fear kept me from trying new things and reaching out to others. There weren’t many things I was willing to do, and because of that, I missed out on many amazing opportunities. Kids On A Mission gave me many more. Public speaking was one of my many fears, and it is one of the fears I have overcome. Of several opportunities presented by  KOAM, some were speaking at local schools and churches, and it was through these opportunities that I was able to help others and bring awareness to KOAM’s mission of empowering kids like myself, and the more I spoke, the easier it became. One of the first projects we worked on was raising $75,000 to build a playground for Rescue the Children Community. It was this project that launched Kids On A Mission, and it played a vital role in drawing me out of my comfort zone and empowering me as a person. This has led to me finding more and more chances to help my community and reach out to others. Last winter, I went on a mission trip to Costa Rica, something I would have been terrified to do before. Kids on a Mission has helped me find the strength do what scares me, take new opportunities, and reach out to others. It has empowered me to serve my community, to step out of my comfort zone, and to face my fears.
