LEADERSHIP…
Isn’t this such a beautiful word? One that enables you and I to set the ultimate example, to put others before ourselves, to be obedient to the many things that God will call us to do and to love people, just as Christ would. This word shows power and the definitions are endless. How can WE be leaders? How can us as Christians share our light in this dark world? We certainly won’t achieve that by being a follower and going along with the crowds.
As leaders, there are so many important things that we need to know and strive towards. The list seems to go on and on and on. But here are a few things that I have come up with that I think are important to know as we become better leaders.
- How do we use our words? Use your words to inspire others, to lift people up, to bless them and to show them the joy of Jesus that lives within you! We can either be encouraging with words, showing people love and kindness or we can use words to break people down and discourage them. Ultimately, it’s a choice we make. It doesn’t matter where we are, who we are with, we can ALWAYS choose to lead with our words. I know that this can be a hard one… it can be exhausting to always be encouraging or kind, but you never know when someone needed the few kind words you shared, or the little nuggets of encouragement.
- Use your influence for the right reasons- In this day and age, there are so many people that are influenced to make choices that they will eventually regret, or that will make a big difference in their life… in not the best ways. But here’s the cool thing, we have a platform! Wherever we are, we can be a positive influence! Whether that is at school, work, the airport, a grocery store, or even your own home, you have the platform to be a light for Jesus! You all are probably familiar with the quote, “Actions speak louder than words” and this totally applies to how we can be a better leader. We will not always have the ability to speak out about what we believe, but we can always show how much we love Jesus through our actions. We have a platform everywhere that we are to make a positive and significant influence on the people around us! It is our job as Christians to set the ultimate example and lead well!
- Be kingdom minded– Ultimately, us as Christians are put on this earth to “Go and make disciples of all nations” Our main goal is to be the hands and feet of Jesus wherever we are and around whoever we meet! This shows our leadership in a beautiful way because it makes it known that we are following the ultimate leader and the ultimate example, Jesus.
I hope this little devotional on leadership inspired you in some way and encouraged you in your walk as a leader. One main verse that reminds me of leadership and setting an example is 1 Timothy 4:12 and it says, “Do not let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith, and in purity.”
