Since the start of this year, Kids On A Mission has started Service Projects. Serving is a great way we can impact our own community while mobilizing others to lead projects of compassion! I asked one of our team members, Nick Skipper, why he though service projects are important. This is what he wrote:

Service projects are so vital in the impact that KOAM has. It has been such a blessing to get to be a part of what goes on and the projects we do. Not that I have to do them, but that I have the privilege of getting to do them. In Matthew 25:40, it says ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ Jesus commands us as a church and believers to go out and love on the people around us, and that is why service projects are so important. We get to be the hands and feet of Jesus while we go to an elderly home and help with projects, or sorting clothes at Fresno Rescue Mission. At the same time, service projects give us the opportunity to be the eyes and mouth of Jesus. At every outreach we do, we get the chance to share Jesus and see them as Jesus does. The projects KOAM does can very well be the first time that someone can get to see Jesus. Most people believe service projects are ways to just help people temporarily, but I see it as a way to change peoples lives for eternity. Giving a kid a backpack at a distribution can help the student at the moment, but the smile you give them and the time to listen to them and love on them can plant a seed that will have a forever impact. I truly believe if someone has a chance to partner with KOAM and serve, DO IT! Every service project missed is a missed chance to share Jesus and change someone’s lives.

Everyone is welcome to these service projects! You don’t have to be previously involved with Kids On A Mission to serve. Our next Service Project is June 8th. They are on the second Saturday of every other month. Come join us!
